An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the operation, which started on August 10 at Ahlan Gagarmandu area of Kokernag belt, was called off today.

“Additional deployments were made to flush out three to four terrorists hiding in the forest area. Speculative firing was carried out multiple times during the five-day period,” the official said.

He said the hiding terrorists took advantage of the topography and managed to flee, adding that the forest belt had dense green cover, steep slopes, and natural caves at an altitude of 10,000 feet.

“The mobilization of security personnel was limited due to the lack of roads. Soon, the terrorist group will be traced and neutralized,” the official said, adding that the questioning of several suspects linked to the case is underway—(KNO)
