NCDC observed International Day against Drug Abuse

Srinagar: The core committee meeting of National Child Development Council (NCDC), a national child welfare organization, observed the International Anti-Drug Day.

International Day Against Drug Abuse is a day, which is being observed on June 26 every year since 1989. The day is aimed at creating awareness against drug abuse and illegal drug trade.

While observing day, the NCDC committee members expressed concern over the increasing drug abuse among youth and school, college students.

NCDC Master Trainer Baba Alexander said that every year rallies, campaigns and poster design are done on this day. He said that apart from all that, “we should try to take major steps throughout the year to reduce the drug abuse.

Evaluators Bindu Saraswati Bhai and Sudha Menon said that the school administrators should pay attention to the behavior of the college students, and should give proper awareness to the parents, besides check the children’s bags properly.

Regional Office Administrator, Mohammad Rizwan opined that if children are ensured sports studies along with academic studies, they can be saved to some extent from falling into such pitfalls.

“It is the duty of teachers, parents and society to fight together to avoid problems caused by drugs in the society,” Rizwan said.
