PAK vs WI 1st ODI: In the 1st ODI played at Multan, Pakistan defeated West Indies by 5 wickets to build a 1-0 lead in the ongoing ODI series. West Indies posted a target of 306 runs against Pakistan after opting to bat first. Shai Hope played 134 deliveries and scored magnificent 127 runs, completing his 12th ODI century.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam churned out yet another century (his 17th ODI ton) and was given good support by half-centuries from Imam ul Haq and Mohammad Rizwan as after a stutter in the final few overs, Pakistan managed to chase the target down in the final over of the match.
Babar Azam was adjudged the best player of the match award for his outstanding knock of 103 runs. But the Pakistan skipper showed great character giving that award to teammate Khushdil Shah, who scored a quick fire 41 off 23 balls to take Pakistan over the line in the final over.

“The situation I was in, I tried to take it deep. I have been working on my hitting for the last two years. The coaching camp in the last 10-12 days has helped. The coaches have helped me during this time. I was waiting for the balls to come into my zone,” Khushdil said after receiving the award.
In his knock, Khushdil targetted Romario Shepherd and in the crucial 47th over, the Pakistani batter smacked three consecutive sixes and collected 20 runs, swinging the game back in Pakistan’s favour. In the 49th over, Khushdil again smacked Shepherd for a six and eventually Pakistan managed to win the match. Windies are 1-0 down in the 3-match ODI series and would have to win the remaining two games to win the series.

Earlier, West Indies opener Shai Hope went on to score his 12th century and bring up 4,000 ODI runs as West Indies look to dominate proceedings of the 1st ODI. Crucial Knocks from Shamarh Brooks powered WI to register a huge score of 305/8. Haris Rauf shined with the ball after picking up a 4-wicket haul.
