Big Blow Be Careful! Four Wheeler Or Two Wheeler Owners Face A Major Setback From April 1 | Details Here
Four wheeler or two wheeler owners may soon face a major setback. The Ministry of Road Transport has proposed to increase the premium of third-party insurance in different categories of vehicles, which will have a direct impact on the pockets of the vehicle owners. As per a proposal by the ministry, third-party motor insurance premiums may see an increase of up to 21%, making it more expensive than ever to insure your car or two-wheeler.
Notably, the insurance premium has not been revised for two years since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The last revision was done in 2019-20, and the ministry is now preparing to increase it by revising the insurance premium. It is important to note here that the premium rates for third-party insurance are revised every year by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
As it is known that third party insurance is legally mandatory and it is a must for every vehicle. In such a situation, if this increase is done, then it will increase the burden on the pockets of the vehicle owners. Actually, third-party insurance covers damages caused to others in the event of a road accident, and is mandatory with cover for own damages. However, if you want to avoid this, you can renew your auto insurance policy before April 1, 2022. The proposed third-party insurance premium rates by 2022-23 will be as follows.
Proposed Third-Party Insurance Premium Rates:
Talking about the change in insurance premium rates for cars and bikes, there will be a change of around 1% in the premium rate for cars with a capacity of 1000cc, which was Rs 2,072 earlier, now it is 2,094 will be Rs. At the same time, the insurance premium rate for cars with engine capacity between 1000 and 1500 cc will increase from Rs 3,221 to Rs 3,416. For cars above 1500cc, a premium of Rs 7,897 will have to be paid, in which a change of only Rs 7 has been seen.
Talking about two-wheelers, the premium for bikes below 75cc will increase from Rs 482 to Rs 538. Apart from this, the premium for two-wheelers between 75 and 150cc has come down. For bikes between 150 and 350cc, the premium will increase from Rs 1,193 to Rs 1,366. The maximum increase will be seen in two-wheelers above 350cc, its premium will be Rs 2,804 instead of Rs 2,323.
Interestingly, the premium for two-wheelers with engine capacity of 75-150cc has come down by 5%. Private cars above 1,500cc capacity also saw a marginal increase of ₹7 in premium. Insurance premium rates will likely increase from April 1, 2022.
