7th Pay Commission: Latest Good News For Over 2 Million Government Employees And Pensioners
New Delhi: 7th Pay Commission latest news: The Narendra Modi government may bring some more good news for the government employees in the coming days. The government is likely to announce a hike in dearness allowance (DA).
The central government has not paid DA (Dearness Allowance) to its employees for 18 months i.e. between January 1, 2020 and June 30, 2021. Employees have been demanding this payment for a long time. After this, the central employees can be paid a lump sum dearness allowance. This will benefit over 2 million employees. Up to Rs 2 lakh can be transferred to the account of government employees.
DA May Raise By 3%
An increase in 3% DA means that the total DA of Central government employees will be 34%. It means a Central government employee with a basic salary of Rs 18,000 will receive an annual dearness allowance of Rs 73,440.
Earlier, Several media reports have also been reporting that the Union Cabinet is contemplating to take the matter for discussion. A Zee Hindi report, quoting Shiv Gopal Mishra of the National Council of JCM, had previously mentioned that the DA arrears of Level-1 employees range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. Whereas, for Level-13 (7th CPC basic pay scale Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900) or Level-14 (pay scale), the DA arrears in the hands of an employee will be Rs 1,44,200-2,18,200 that will be paid, quoted the reports.
Calculation on minimum basic salary
Basic salary of employee: Rs 18,000- New DA (34%) Rs 6120/month- DA so far (31%) Rs 5580/month- How much dearness allowance increased 6120- 5580 = Rs 540/month- Increase in annual salary 540X12 = Rs 6,480- Calculation on maximum basic salary
Basic salary of the employee: Rs 56900- New DA (34%) Rs 19346 / month- DA so far (31%) Rs 17639 / month- How much dearness allowance increased 19346-17639 = 1,707 Rs/month- Increase in annual salary 1,707 X12 = Rs 20,484.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Pensioners’ Forum has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the arrear payment.
