Fact Check: Centre Giving Free Recharge To to Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea Customers For 3-month on Record Covid19 Vaccination?

A post doing the rounds of social media claims that the Centre is offering free mobile recharge of three months to Jio, Airtel and Vi customers to celebrate the COVID-19 vaccination milestone.

“The government is giving free recharge of three months of free recharge as India celebrate the Covid-19 vaccination milestone. If you have Reliance Jio, Airtel, or Vi connection then you can avail of the offer. ” reads the viral message. The viral message also includes an online link to get the free recharge of three months.

CLAIM:

In a WhatsApp message, it is being claimed that the Government of India is providing free 3 months recharge to all Indian users in the joy of record vaccination in the country.

Government has clarified about the viral post:

“The viral message is fake. No such announcement has been made by the Government of India,” tweeted Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) fact checking arm ‘PIB Fact Check’.

  • No such announcement has been made by the Government of India
  • Do not share or forward any of your personal information on the link of any such fake message
  • Do not share personal information, bank details and click on such fake links.

Cellular Operators Association of India:

“Beware of such fraudulent messages. There is no such scheme from the Government or Telecom Service Providers. Don’t share or forward such messages and also alert your family and friends,”
