“Go back Pakistan. Bangladesh should stop the series. Ban any kind of Pakistani flag in Bangladesh,” one user wrote on Twitter.

“Different countries have come to #Bangladesh innumerable times, many matches have been played by practicing. But neither party needed to practice burying their national flag on the ground. But why did #Pakistan do that…What does it indicate,” another user wrote on Twitter.

“Pakistan started preparation ahead of three-match T20I and two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Pakistan team hoists a national flag there– surely a new scene here. Cannot remember any team doing it here in recent past. Finally some int’l cricket in Mirpur,” one of the fans wrote.

Defending their action, Pakistan’s cricket team claimed that this is their pre-match ritual, which was introduced by their coach, Saqlain Mushtaq.

The opening T20I between the two teams will get underway on November 19 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. The venue will also host the second and third T20Is. The Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram will host the first Test, starting November 26. Dhaka will be back to hosting the second and final Test.
