Jobless due to the COVID-induced lockdown and did not have money to feed his family, man drowned his 8-year-old son in river

Police found out the birthday of the 10-year-old daughter of the accused was on Friday and he had gone with his son to buy cake.

Madhya Pradesh :A man who allegedly drowned his 8-year-old son in Wainganga river in Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh on Friday has told police he was jobless due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown and did not have money to feed his family, an official said.

A Kotwali police station official identified the 37- year-old accused as Sunil Jaiswal, a resident of Saraswati Nagar area here.

“After tying his son’s hands and drowning him, Jaiswal went to his family, confessed to the crime and then came to surrender. We found the body of the boy some time later,” said Kotwali police station in charge Vijay Singh Paraste.

“In his statement, Jaiswal has said he was rendered jobless due to the lockdown, was unable to feed his family, and, therefore, killed his son. He has said he wanted to end the family line by killing the son,” Paraste informed.

“Jaiswal has been charged with murder and further probe was underway,” Paraste added.[PTI]
