Director Meteorological Department Predicts Weather Update For Next Five Days in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar, July 04 : Weatherman on Saturday evening forecast mainly “hot and dry” weather in Jammu and Kashmir for next five days.

Sonam Lotus, Director Meteorological Department, said that possibility of late afternoon or evening showers cannot be ruled out though.

“Mainly hot and dry weather (is expected) but a brief spell of thunderstorm with rain especially in the late afternoon and evening can’t be ruled out,” he said, adding, “Expect slight rise in day temperature due to absence of rain.”

Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded maximum temperature of 28.8 degree Celsius against 29.6 degree Celsius normal for this time of the year, a meteorological department official told.

Jammu recorded maximum of 36.0 degree Celsius against 36.3 degree Celsius normal during time tome of the season, he said.

Qazigund, the gate town of Kashmir, recorded 26.8 degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 22.7 degreesbCelsius and Kokernag 26.2 degrees Celsius, he said.

The border town Kupwara recorded maximum temperature of 28.7 degrees Celsius. World famous skiing and tourist resort Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in Valley, recording maximum of 17.3 degrees Celsius, the official added. (GNS)
