Fact Check: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu & Kashmir Tomorrow, True or Not

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Jammu & Kashmir next week to inaugurate several developmental projects in the Union Territory.

This was revealed by J&K BJP Chief Ravinder Raina while speaking to India Today TV after his return from New Delhi where he attended important party meetings.

“Yes, PM Modi may visit J&K soon to dedicate many developmental projects to the people of J&K. Modi government is committed to the all-round development of J&K. Massive transformation is being witnessed in all sectors.

People of J&K love PM Modi and they are eagerly waiting for his visit”, Ravinder Raina said.

This would be the second visit of the Prime Minister to J&K after the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A.

Earlier, the Prime Minister had celebrated Diwali with the Army jawans near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu division’s Rajouri district on October 27, 2019.

Meanwhile, as per some reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate the new Banihal-Qazigund tunnel on Jammu-Srinagar national highway during his likely visit to J&K. The new tunnel would improve connectivity between the Kashmir valley and the rest of the country.

However, there is no word yet from the BJP or the government as far as the schedule of the Prime Minister’s visit to J&K is concerned.

“The dates of PM Modi’s J&K visit haven’t been finalised yet, but we have been told to make preparations for his grand welcome,” Ravinder Raina told India Today.

When asked about the schedule of the assembly elections in J&K, the firebrand BJP leader said that the polls would be held only after the completion of the delimitation exercise in the Union Territory.

“Announcing assembly election schedule in J&K is the prerogative of the election commission. The poll panel would take a call on holding assembly polls in J&K after the delimitation commission completes its exercise. I think it would take six to eight for the delimitation commission to finalize its report”, Ravinder Raina said.
