3 militants killed in encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag

SRINAGAR: Three unidentified militants were gunned down by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday, police said.

Following inputs about militants in Khulchohar area of the south Kashmir district, the security forces launched a search operation.

The operation turned into an encounter after the  fired upon the search party of the forces, who retaliated. The gunfight is underway, police said.

An AK-47 assault rifle and two pistols were recovered from the site, the Indian Army said.

More details are awaited.

On June 26, three militants were killed when troops launched an operation at Chewa Ullar in Tral of the Union Territory’s Pulwama district after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area.
