2nd Time: J&K Junior wushu team emerged as 2nd runner up

Srinagar 25 Oct: J&k junior wushu team emerged as 2nd runner up in the Sanda event , it is consecutive 2nd time that J&k junior wushu team remained 3rd in the National championship. 

J&k wushu team.secured 02 Gold and 04 Bronze medals in the championship while as Haryana topped with 8 Gold 2 silver and 2 Bronze whereas   Manipur with 02 Gold  1 silver and 2 Bronze and UP with 1 Gold medal 3 silver.

Sadia Tariq and Ansa Chisti secured Gold medals in thr Bleow 48kg and 52kg respectively. It is the second consecutive Gold medal for the Sadia Tariq whereas Ansa Chisti converted her previous silver medal to Gold.

Ayra Chisti, Kaifa Shah, Ali and Ajmal secured Bronze medals in the championship. Ayra chisti got injured during the bout and missed Gold medal.

The chief guest on the closing ceremony Sh.Bhupender singh Bajwa, president of wushu Association of India presented medals to all medalists which was accompanied by the MD of the Lovely Professional University Jalandhar and president of the Punjab Wushu Association Surinender singh Sodhi (Arjun Awardee).

The office bearers of Wushu Association of j&k, Chief patron Sh. Yogesh Sawhney, congratulated all the medalists for their commendable performance in the championship,especially district Srinagar wushu Association for their commendable performance. They also congratulated coaches for imparting effective coaching.

Sh.Vijay Saraf, President of Wushu Association of J&k appealed the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of UT J&K for giving peominence to this sports as wushu is the only sports which is giving medals for the UT j&k at the Asian Games, world championship/Cup, Asian Championship  and moreover is the best among the 03 states in the country at the National level. He also requested j&k government for taking up the matter with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and sports for opening of National Accademy or National centre of excellence NCOE) in the UT J&K so that the players of the UT J&K exhibit their best in the forthcoming international events.

Sr.Vice president of the Wushu Assocoation of j&k Rajeet Kalra appreciated Junior Wushu Team for their outstanding performance in the championship.He urged government to acknowledge the medal prospectus sports for the better facility. He apprised that Morethan 06 players of the UT J&K junior Players have qualified for the Youth Asian Games coaching camps and is the only sports in the UT. Which gave first ever medal in the Asian Games and have the only coach in the UT J&K configured with the Highest award in coaching Dronacharya Award.
